Distillery
Imperial Measures Distilling, established in 2014, is the trademark of a premium South Australian Gin Distiller. Operating out of Thebarton, IMD is owned and operated by David Danby and Chris Jones. Whilst the primary focus is the creation and production of highly awarded gins, the spirit of the bartender in both David and Chris drove them to explore creating other complimentary products. It is because of their acclaimed history in hospitality that they were able to make a massive footprint on the gin scene, combining their skills behind the bar with a love of making good booze.
Venue
In December 2018 we opened Ounce Bar as a premium cocktail bar and cellar door, built into our Thebarton distillery. With a focus on providing excellent hospitality and superior libations, Ounce Bar is a laid back and comfortable setting to enjoy our products. Our bartenders are on hand to mix up a collection of carefully cultivated cocktails, and we also offer a selective back bar of wines from small, local producers, and exceptional beer from SA craft brewers.
Signature Recipe
IMD Negroni
The classic aperitif cocktail, and our favourite here at IMD. All the ingredients are made in house.
Ingredients
- Ounce Gin ‘Signature’
- Ruby Bitter Aperitif
- SV Sweet Vermouth
Method
- Pour 30ml of each ingredient into a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir Well.
- Strain into a tumbler filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with a twist of orange peel.
